We had a whole heap of our Chili Cheese Kranski’s that we smoked up and needed to be used. Using Chat GPT, i have asked “Looking for a recipe for cooked chilli kranskis that can be thrown into the slow cooker and that also dulls down the chilli in the kranski”
Serves: 4
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 4–6 hrs on LOW or 2–3 hrs on HIGH
Ingredients :
4–5 chilli kranskis, sliced into chunks
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red capsicum, chopped
1 can diced tomatoes (400g)
1 can baked beans
1 small zucchini, chopped (optional)
1 carrot, diced (optional)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp brown sugar (optional, helps cut chilli heat)
1/2 tsp mild paprika or sweet paprika
1/2 cup cream, sour cream, or a handful of grated cheese stirred in at the end (optional, also to mellow spice)
Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
Brown the kransky pieces in a pan (optional, but boosts flavour and prevents rubbery texture). Add to slow cooker.
Add all the remaining ingredients (except cream/cheese if using) to the slow cooker.
Stir well to combine.
Cook:
Low for 4–6 hours
High for 2–3 hours
In the last 15–20 minutes, stir through the cream, sour cream, or cheese if using. This helps mellow the chilli and makes it creamy and rich.
Taste and season with salt and pepper.
Serving suggestions:
Over rice, mashed potato, or buttered pasta
With crusty bread
Topped with a dollop of yoghurt or sour cream and some fresh parsley
Tips to Reduce the Spice:
Use more tomato (e.g., add a second can or 2 tbsp tomato paste)
Stir in yoghurt, cream, or cheese at the end
Add beans or potatoes to absorb and spread the spice
A splash of milk or coconut milk can also help in a pinch
