Instructions
  1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a small bowl. Let stand until cool.
  2. Combine egg, brown sugar, salt and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat. Stir in date mixture.
  3. Add flour and baking powder. Stir just to moisten. Turn into a greased loaf pan. Bake in 175c oven for about 1 hour. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Remove to rack to cool completely.
