Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1/2 cup Dates chopped
- 1/2 cup Apricots dried
- 1 teaspoon Bi Carbonate of Soda
- 3/4 cup Boiling Water
- 1 Egg beaten lightly
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 cup Self Raising Flour
- 1 cup Plain Wholemeal Flour or SR
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder

Instructions
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a small bowl. Let stand until cool.
- Combine egg, brown sugar, salt and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat. Stir in date mixture.
- Add flour and baking powder. Stir just to moisten. Turn into a greased loaf pan. Bake in 175c oven for about 1 hour. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Remove to rack to cool completely.
